— FAQ
What people ask us before and after they start using Tortuga. If you can’t find your answer, write to us from support.
A trade journal and portfolio tracker in one: stocks, ETFs, options, futures, crypto and dividends. It imports your trades from your broker, sorts them out and shows your P&L, your calendar and your positions — no spreadsheet to maintain.
No. Tortuga Trades is a tool for recording and analyzing YOUR trades. We give no investment recommendations and never tell you what to buy or sell. The decisions, and their risk, are always yours.
Yes: there is a native iPhone app on the App Store, and the web adapts to phones and tablets, so you can use it from any browser.
Yes. The whole application works in Spanish, English, German and Portuguese (Brazil), and you can switch languages at any time.
Yes: there is a public demo at tortugatrades.app/demo — no signup, nothing to connect. It is an account with sample data, so you can see how the dashboard, the calendar and the journal work from the inside.
It joins the two halves: TradeZella is a trade journal (no investment portfolio) and getquin is a portfolio (no journal). Tortuga does both in a single tool, with options, futures and dividends treated properly — premiums, expirations, Greeks, a payout calendar and, with Interactive Brokers, DEGIRO and Trade Republic, every dividend net or gross.
Inside the app you can ask for an analysis of your portfolio, a trade, your options or a radar stock, and download it as a PDF. The AI only writes: the figures come from your data and are checked before they are shown. It is paid with prepaid credit, no extra subscription, and it is part of the paid plans, which can also connect Tortuga to Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini in read-only mode.
No, never your password. Interactive Brokers uses Flex reports with a read-only token you generate yourself; tastytrade connects by granting access on its own website; eToro and Trading 212, with an API key you create at the broker. The rest are imported from the statement. Tortuga cannot trade, move money or touch your account: it only reads.
Connected brokers (Interactive Brokers, tastytrade, eToro and Trading 212) sync on their own every day, and you can also trigger a sync manually whenever you want. Statement imports are processed on the spot.
It is our number-one support question and it almost always has the same cause: the Interactive Brokers Flex Query ships configured with the “Last Business Day” period, so it only brings one day of history. Change the period to “Year to Date” in the Flex Query settings and sync again. For earlier years you can upload the CSV statement.
Yes. You can record manual positions (for example, from an unsupported broker or old investments) and they live alongside the synced ones in your portfolio, your metrics and your dividends.
They are recorded next to your trades, they count in your calendar and your P&L, and the portfolio also estimates the upcoming payments of the positions you hold right now.
Yes. The Interactive Brokers Flex Query brings at most the current year (“Year to Date”); for earlier years just upload your broker’s CSV statement and everything files itself under the right year.
Yes: the portfolio values your positions with market prices that refresh throughout the session, and options also use their implied volatility for the Greeks. It is not a millisecond real-time trading terminal: it is your portfolio valued at current prices.
With automatic sync: Interactive Brokers, tastytrade, eToro and Trading 212. By importing the statement: DEGIRO, ING Broker Naranja, XTB, Charles Schwab, Trade Republic and MyInvestor.
Yes. Each account is tracked separately, and there is also a combined view that adds them all up to see your global wealth and P&L.
Yes. Tortuga works with each position’s native currency and your account’s base currency, converting with market exchange rates. You can view your figures in euros or dollars with one click.
You can record your positions and trades by hand in the meantime, and write to support: the brokers we add come straight from what people ask for.
They are the classic trading-journal metrics: the profit factor compares what you won against what you lost, the win rate measures what percentage of trades you close in profit, and expectancy is what you make or lose on average per trade. Each one carries an ⓘ icon in the dashboard with its full explanation.
No — it is technically impossible: we never have your credentials. Access is read-only (a Flex token or CSV files you upload yourself), so nobody can place orders or transfer anything from Tortuga.
You. Your dashboard is private by default. There are optional social features (public profile, community) and you decide whether to enable them and what gets shared.
Yes. You can delete trades, accounts or your entire account with all its data whenever you want, from the app itself or by writing to support.
You start with a 7-day trial, no card. After that, €4.99 a month or the yearly plan at €39.99 (12 months for the price of 8). There is also a one-time lifetime plan.
From your account settings, at any time and with no questions asked. You keep access until the end of the period you already paid for.
Nothing gets deleted. Your account and your history are kept, and when you reactivate the subscription you get everything back exactly as it was. If you prefer to erase it for good, you can do it yourself or ask us.
Yes: it is the same subscription for the web and the iOS app. You sign in with the same account and see the same data.
Yes, you can move to the yearly plan whenever you want. If you have any doubt while switching, write to support and we will sort it out so you never pay twice for the same period.
No. Tortuga is not a tax tool and does not generate reports for tax filings. It is your journal and your portfolio: for taxes, rely on your broker’s statements or your advisor.
